I was just reading through your Tot School post and saw that you asked about themes. I started working with themes at the begining of this year. It certainly makes it easier to source activities and make resources when you are only thinking about a particular topic, however I have found it to be more time consuming than working without a theme. I think we'll mix it up a bit - mostly theme work, but some weeks (like this one) we won't have a theme.
My daughter is three and I will be asking her what she would like to learn more about and incorporate her ideas into our themes. When preparing activities I always make sure that I can include what my children enjoy doing in the themes (that's what I love about making up activities). For example, I have recently made a few different styles of nature scavenger hunts to fit in with our themes as my children love being outside. If you are interested, you can access these scavenger hunts with the links below:

I am a stay at home mom to two wonderful boys, Dominic(6) and Lucas (2). I am so thankful for the opportunity to be able to stay home with my kids each day! I enjoy watching them learn new things through exploration and play. I have found blogs to be such a great resource in finding new and interesting activities to do with my kids, so I have made my own blog to share my ideas with others!
Happy Birthday to him!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your son.
